The sunny Vegas del Valle of Güímar, one of the oldest settlements of Tenerife, receive its visitors with the beauty of is harvest chains and the sovereign grace of its people. Its excellent wines are, without a doubt, one of the most successful attractions.
The municipality’s economic activities are based mainly on agriculture, with a varied produce, notable for its potatoes, grapes, bananas and avocados. Also produced are tomatoes, pumpkins, cabbages, fruits, and most outstanding are the tropical plantations, as well as flowers and decorative plants in greenhouse systems, in which Güímar occupies one of the first places in the province. Today most of the population is dedicated to the services sector.
Fishing finds its height in summer when many summer visitors come to live, and it is carried out in the Harbour of Güímar, used previously as a loading and unloading dock for merchandise.
Several distribution enterprises and factories have settled in the wide coastal strip of the Industrial Park.
